Lesley Tunstall began her dance training at The Northern Ballet School in England and went on to perform throughout Europe with Alterballetto Ballet Co under the direction of Amedio Amodio. She received her teacher training in 2008 from the prestigious Canada’s National Ballet School in Toronto, Canada completing the accelerated 2-year program. Lesley also earned her Cecchetti Teaching Associate and until recently taught the teaching method of the Royal Academy of Dance. Lesley owned and directed The Dance Academy of South Carolina for many years and has choreographed the Nutcracker Ballet for several schools. She has taught in public and private schools as well as teaching dance and Costume Design and Construction at the college level. She has choreographed musicals and ballets for colleges and directed classical ballet pre-professional programs, most notably The Portland Ballet in Maine. Her teachings have led her into many studios including Boston Ballet, AIS Japan and Walnut Hill School of The Arts. She is passionate about anatomy and the wellness of the mind and body and relating it to dance, passing on this knowledge to her students. Lesley recently taught ballet in Oxford, England and staged many shows and performances over her twenty-five year teaching span. Lesley is also is a qualified yoga teacher and has completed two 500-hr trainings. She has made several TV appearances promoting the benefits of yoga for the city of Portland and taught yoga at the Nike World Headquarters in Portland, Oregon.  “I am beyond excited to begin my first year as the Artistic Director of Vail Valley Academy of Dance and guide students to find their own innate grace and love of dance”.
