Cheryl Senser, originally from Lafayette, Indiana, began dancing at the age of three. After moving to Colorado in 1997, she began her serious dance training at the Academy of Colorado Ballet. There she studied ballet, modern, and performed with the company in productions of The Nutcracker, Cinderella, and Dracula. Cheryl also attended summer intensive programs throughout her training including The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School, North Carolina Dance Theatre, The Academy of Colorado Ballet, Snowy Range Dance Festival, and most recently Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp under a full scholarship.

Cheryl joined the Colorado State University Dance Department in 2010 and has had the pleasure of training under Carol Roderick, Chung-Fu Chang, Jane Slusarski-Harris, Judy Bejarano and Amber Mazurana. She has also had the pleasure of studying character dance from guest artist Richard Wacko. While at CSU, Cheryl has performed excerpts from Paquita, The Nutcracker, Les Sylphides, Don Quixote, Pas de Quatre, and Swan Lake. Cheryl has also choreographed works for the stage, one of which was featured in the CSU Spring Dance Concert of 2012. Cheryl also volunteered for the CSU’s BRAINY Program in which elementary schools bring children to the University Center of the Arts so that they can experience the joys of the performing arts. Her dance teacher training includes pedagogical courses from summer intensives as well as from CSU. She also participated in the Dance Teacher Institute Workshop in the Summer of 2012 under the direction of Carol Roderick. Cheryl finished her pedagogical training in Modern Dance with an independent study in conjunction with VVAD and received her B.A. in Performing Arts with a Concentration in Dance in May of 2013.  After graduation, Cheryl returned to the Vail Valley to teach at VVAD for two years.

Ms. Cheryl will be teaching modern and contemporary during the Summer Dance Camp 2017.
